Disk Dogs and Earth Dogs...OH MY!

Hey ya'll! Murphy here! Gotta tell ya, life is great as a dog! I know your dogs all feel the same way. A warm place to sleep, some good food, some great games and interactions with our owners and the Doc says that everyone who reads this page takes very good care of their pets - that's why there are here!

We are talking about 2 more dog sports today. These are two more great ways to play with your dogs. We are going to talk about dogs who fly and dogs who go underground. Talk about opposites!
Disk dogs - or frisbee dogs - are just that. They are dogs who catch frisbees! These can be literally any breed of dog. The dogs just need to be able to catch a frisbee. Dogs are judged on creativity, their catch ratio and a 2 minute routine set to music. Have a dog that likes to jump? a dog that can catch anything? This may be the sport for you! You can do this on your own in the park or you can join a club and compete. For more information on ways to play or compete, visit this website: http://www.discdoggin.com/

Earth dogs is a sport that many people have not heard of. Most of these canine athletes are terriers or dachshunds. This is one of the sports where most competitions do require the dog to be of an approved breed for the sport. In earthdog sports, dogs use their nose and instincts to detect where rodents are and to follow them through tunnels. This sport works the dog's nose, body and brain. This is one sport which does not require a high level of fitness or ability of the owner, yet lets the dogs happily work. This is exactly the ticket of many terriers! Two more great ways to spend fun time with your dogs! Unfortunately, dogs my size really can't do earthdogs. Maybe the Doc could get some frisbees for me. I LOVE to jump. OK, honestly, I get in trouble for jumping too much and at inopportune times. Sigh. Sometimes it is hard being the dog!

Well, ya'll have a great week! Go outside and play with those puppies! It will make both of you happy!
